CONSELYEA-BALDEOSINGH AWARD



KEN CONSELYEA has been officiating for over 35 years for all different levels of soccer. In 1992, 1994, and 1996, Ken was awarded the Meritorious Award by the Ohio High School Athletic Association. In 2000, he was named one of the Top 100 Soccer Leaders in Ohio by Major League Soccer. Five years later, the "Ken Conselyea Award" was established by the Ohio South State Referee Committee to annually recognize a person who has contributed to the game of soccer as a referee, assessor, instructor or administrator.
Ken was inducted into the United States Adult Soccer Association Hall of Fame in 2007. Also in 2007, he received a recognition award for having more than 16 years of continuous dedication and service as an officer of the Midwest Region of the United States Adult Soccer Association. Ken is also a member of the Ohio South State Referee Committee and the Ohio Soccer Hall of Fame Committee.


















CHANKA KEN BALDEOSINGH , Trinidad born has been a devoted advocate of soccer for the past 42 years. In 1973, he founded the Huber Soccer League and help spread the program throughout the Dayton area. On the field, he has served as a referee since 1974. Off the field, he has worked tirelessly for soccer in his capacity as an assessor, assignor, instructor, coach and administrator. He has served on the USSF Referee Committee since 1995, always pushing for programs to benefit the local State Association and referees. He has served on the USASA Referee Committee since 1994. Ken’s focus for both committees has been to improve the level of youth, adult, high school and college soccer. In 1995, he began a ten year run period representing Region Two as the Referee Administrator. During that time he encouraged and mentored and unprecedented number of Region Two referees to attain National and FIFA levels. In 1985, he was appointed Ohio South State Referee Administartor. He has been on the boards of the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association, Miami Valley Youth Soccer Association, National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Ohio South Youth Soccer Association. The standards in all areas of soccer in Ohio have been raised as a result.

Ken was inducted into the Ohio Soccer Hall of Fame in 2010, the United State Adult Soccer Association Hall of Fame in 2011, Patrick Smith Award in 2006 and named as one of the Top 100 Soccer Leaders in Ohio by Major League Soccer.

Ken has worked at the state level on the board of Southern Ohio Adult Soccer Association for over twenty years. The association has almost doubled its number of leagues and players. He has made it a priority to ensure that all of Southern Ohio has an adequate number of officials necessary to staff the expansion of soccer. This has been accomplished at a time when there is intense competition within youth, high school and college for officials. Ken’s personality, charisma and enthusiasm has been a behind the scenes, positive force to the benefit of Ohio soccer as long as he has been associated with game.
